Watch out for Habz. Considering his 1:43.90 PR last week in Paris, he could be in 3:30 shape if runs well and could surely scalp some big names. Maybe Nuguse and Hoare.
Habz 3:29.26, just 0.24 seconds behind Nuguse and also 0.15 seconds ahead of Hoare.
Also very notable Nordas with 3:29.47 PB. Norway now has 2 sub 3:30 runners....
That was such a good 1500m. 3:27.95 - Congrats to Jakob. Nice run for all the sub 3:30s. Worried for Kipsang, he'll probably struggle to make the Kenyan team this time. Tim 3:29.08 for 4th. He should be happy with that.
The following are the national records in track and field in the United States. Some of the records are maintained by USA Track & Field (USATF). Outdoor times for track races between 200 meters to 10,000 meters are set on 400...
He kinda uses the mo Farah tactics. But it also seems like he has become even faster. I dont see how he can be beaten. Maybe some unkown kenyan can bring him down
Jakob is answering the one question people sill had about him: can he kick? His last two races, he's unleashed devastating kicks, absolutely destroying the very best in the world. And he's doing it while running 3:27. Make no mistake: the rest of the field were nowhere tonight, they couldn't do anything to him.
Right now, only illness, injury, or bad decisions (as in Eugene) can beat Jakob. Everyone else is running for silver and PBs.

Its incredible that he keeps being so strong. Looked like he ran quite a distance out close to lane two as well. Hope he will only get stronger, him in front of Jakob (one can dream) at WC would be epic.

I've always believed his kick would come when he felt he reached the top, he's been focused on maxing his aerobic base and now he's doing his crazy anaerobic workouts because his body is fit enough to adapt to them (such as the 6x800 twice or the 25x400 last year, etc)
I think Jakob will crush the circuit this n next year. Wr n Olympic gold. Then i think he will retire or have a down year in 2025 n fade. Or a serious injury will bring him down. Its always when you are on top that sh#t happens...
Why do some site list Lagats 3:27.4 as the American record when he competed for Kenya at the Olympics 3 weeks later?
Because he was already officially an American Citizen at the time he ran it. He just hadn't told anyone yet. I'm not saying it should or shouldn't be the record. Just saying that he was a citizen when he ran it and that is why some sites state it as the record.
I know you aren't actually arguing it should be the record, but it's strange that people would use this line of logic to argue it should be an American record. Many, many US citizens have represented other countries in athletics, and all of their results have been for THEIR countries.
