So happy Paulino won. SML is antithetical to what the sport is about.

Yo i am not going to complain she really went for it
Will be interesting to see the 200 split. Sub-23.5? Faster?

paulino over SML!!! nice race. 49.12. SML out very hard and struggled the last 100m
Steve Cram, the British commentator, mentioning that Sydney Mcgloughlin lacks knee lift and lost any little knee lift she had in the last 50m.

Man Sydney ran a freshman race. New race plan: you are not in sub-48 shape.
Sub 49 shape right now with better racing tactics. Very good for her.

49.7 is a really good opener for McLaughlin
She isn’t breaking the 400m flat anytime soon, that was always a ridiculous proposition
PB for SML

Why is there little buzz for Sydney doing something crazy good right here? 48:50? Faster?
She really went for it which tells me that she and her coach thought she had a chance at something very fast.

Well, she went out like she wanted it…..
Props to her. She went hard, got found out. She's easy sub-49 if she runs a little more conservatively.
But... I'm certain she runs that better if she actually races a little more, gets a feel for where she is at. I think she paid the price for being inactive

+1
She wiped the floor with the princess.
Also paulino is LEGIT so yeah it will be hard to bear her at first, like dalilah muhammad.

Respect for going out like she did though, smart race by Paulino sticking to her plan but I'd like to see her go for it one of these days. Solid race by Anna Hall after all the competing she's done recently.
KERSEE IS A FRAUD
Maybe Dwight Stones seeing Sydney run 49.7 will get him to have an ouch of emotion for Britton running 49.3 in a prelim.

Sydney would be lucky to get on the podium in the NCAA 400.

Based on how little she races I have to believe she has time trialed a couple of very fast 400s by now
22.66 first 200 for SML. That is a la Karsten’s first 200 at Euros Indoors. Last 100 at 14.8

I would lay the blame on her coach.
SML 22.66 official at 200
Splits:
SML: 11.59, 22.66, 34.94
Paulino: 12.13, 23.43, 35.40

Remember Paulino’s winning time today when Britton Wilson runs the 400 tomorrow.
