2-3 weeks ago we said the temperature will be around 70 at the start - it is just too high

Disregard my previous comment about KB's potential genius scheme. Don't think it's gonna happen. The lead pacer should probably try to stay in and finish the race... Looks as strong as the other 3

This isn't that hard people.

1) You don't set a WR in the marathon in 69 degree temperature. In Wanjiru's epic run, it was 74 at the start.

2) From 15k to 20k, the leaders ran 14:50. Bekele ran 15:21.

NOt a good sign as I'm afraid he'll give up. The good news is he probably saw them when they turned around so if someone was there to tell him, "Run 2:05:30 and you win" maybe he does it but I think a DNF is more likely.

KB has stopped to stretch

The pacesetters look good. They should go beyond 30k, maybe win the race.

Front pack breaking apart as expected- a couple guys at the front still on 2:03 pace after throwing in a 2:51 k

Leaders are picking back up it looks like, the splits seem to be getting closer to WR pace but it might be too difficult to bring it together with the heat, humidity, and lack of Bekele going with the pace. I'm a romanticist though so I've gotta hang onto that little glimmer of hope that someone takes the WR down
