"I was just practicing my diving skills for bathing season" (regarding the close finish).
"I like running fast and to do my best, today I opened fast but I felt that it was harder that I have dreamt about, so I saved some for the end where it was a struggle to the finish line."
Regarding this could been a world record if he hadn't ran the mile: "Yes, I think so."
He also says that he thinks there will be tries for several world records (next year), but everything in due time. He likes to compete a lot and perform well (which might mean that his top end level suffers a bit). He is a fan of aiming high, which is a blast when it works out.
He says that he had wished he had someone following him even closer to the finish line yesterday, but laughs and says "its easy to be cocky when you win, but to be serious - its incredible fun to compete and I feel quite well." Talks a bit about the logistics of flying over, buy says that this is what he enjoys to do in life. He could have been safing his races a bit more, but thats not exciting. When asked about the season and the second place in WC, he says that loosing the gold will be the things he thinks about, thinking back on this season. But he says he has accomplished a lot, and starts thanking his GF (wife from next weekend), his brothers and team, as well as a friend that is travelling with him to the US. He says he feel very privileged to be able to live this life. He feels that when he have the opportunity he have to give it all. At the end of the interview the reporter says that his GF sent him a message saying he had to come back to iron his shirt for the wedding, Jakob says that he will try but that might mean they will be late for the wedding.
