hope they dont waste time on a dmr this season ... shaw stll running injured, bush not really improving lately, chmiel is doing fine, everyone is having a so so indoor season except for katelyn tuohy
I agree with this mainly because NC State isn't really built like people think they are for the DMR anyways. People forget that NC State had both the fastest 400m split and the fastest 800m split in the DMR at ACC's last year and still only got 3rd. It was the longer legs, run by Bush and Chmiel, that the other schools built their lead on them. Outside of Tuohy and Tyynismaa if she was eligible, NC State's distance stars just aren't that competitive nationally at middle distance. They are built for the 3k/5k which is why you can see them with 5 runners in the 5k outdoors but not winning DMR's indoors.
That’s a very good point.
And even the sprinters on their rosters aren’t REALLY sprinters, at least not nationally competitively.

you're right nationally, but at least last year they had Jada Griffin at the 400 who was competitive in the 400 at the conference and regional level. She could split 52.x, this year they'd be really lucky to have someone split 55 high.

That’s exactly what I thought. I was like “Geez, we’d be lucky to get a 56 on that leg”. So not even worth giving it a shot under the circumstances.

So is Tuohy going to even run JDL or take a week off?
She DOES love the team aspect. If they run it, I’m sure she’ll be in it.
They ran 3 DMR's last year and she wasn't in any of them. Her individual aspirations outweigh a mediocre DMR, both from a personal perspective and from a team points at nationals perspective.

She did not run a single race indoors last year between BU and ACC last year having been sick.
Wow...what a weekend. Ben and Garrett reunite to go through some wild distance results including Tuohy's record-breaking 3k, Willis and Whittaker's 800 meter...
Those guys are always fun! And, I like that THEY are pretty much saying Tuohy’s a shoe-in as The Bowerman winner as well!
From what I can see only one Gatorade T&F Athlete of the Year later won the Bowerman (Michael Norman) and no Gatorade National (all sports) Athlete of the Year later won Bowerman.

so 2 of the 3 races she did run the team also ran a DMR of which she did not participate.
I would not have thought they would run Tuohy this week. BTW I saw the DMR comments - Chapman ran 56.2 in an open 400 a month ago so not sure where the 57 comes from. She might do 55 on a DMR in 2 weeks. If NC State gets serious about a DMR it will be at ACC. This week should be a good look at what they have on the first 3 legs.

Very little chance Chapman runs DMR at ACC's, she has the full pentathlon schedule the same day as the DMR.
