I think Jakob would relish a last 2K burn-up like this given his 7:54. Especially if he doesn't have to do any of the work.
I mean he wouldn’t be scared by it, but his ideal scenario is a dawdling pace and he runs an all-out 800 at the end. He can bet on being tactically better than Kejelcha who is the only guy close to his speed. Katir maybe too if he runs the 5. A blazing last 2,000 gives the Ugandans more of a chance in my eyes.
Torso actually. But shoulder is not actually part of the torso.
I don't think the photo is clear at all. Kiplimo's closest shoulder is faced away from the camera, hidden behind his head. My understanding is FAT timing is basically subjective because you have to click to place the lines, and whoever clicked could have easily decided that Kiplimo's hidden shoulder was an inch farther.

Very strong run by Kiplimo, but he and Kejelcha are not dropping Jakob and then what do you think is going to happen over the last 400? Jakob is winning this race, no sweat.
No sweat? Jakob might have won today but it would have pushed him to the limit. 4:54.2 to close out a 12:41 is insane.

Agreed. Almost seems like the least likely way to beat him, as opposed to a super fast race start to finish or a 51-52 last lap.
Not sure why anyone thinks that would a winning strategy. All Jakob would do is sit on and let them do the work and pacing, while he saves up for progressively running each lap faster for the final mile.
Also wanted to add that it's great to see Bislett stadium back jam packed again. It definitely dropped off for a while there after the stadium was partially rebuilt. Really shows the benefit and importance of having hometown heroes around and relevant. No doubt the crowd size is attributed a lot to these last 2 events tonight.

The 51-52 second last lap scenario is wrong cuz Jakob would take it at 800 and run 55-53. Blazing fast pace from the gun, I mean only KB can do that right?
I wish they had an image from the other side too. I feel that Kiplimo is disadvantaged by the fact it is his left shoulder vs Kejelcha's right shoulder. It is also dropped down and partially obscured by his head. But I have full trust in the Diamond League to make the right decisions!
There appears to be a camera in the inside as well. I would assume the checked that image as well but only showed us the one image

Ok, maybe a "sweat" but let's circle back in 30 min, but after his 7:54 and his about to happen 3:27....

Definitely some sweat, that was one of the best 5k races ever run. The way they closed that puts them on par with any sub 12:40 race.
Jakob might’ve won that but I’m not 100% convinced. Kejelcha has crazy range and ran 3:47 indoors in ye olden days pre super spikes. Kiplimo is the half marathon world record holder and the smoothest long distance runner I’ve ever seen.
Of course Jakob is amazing and already a GOAT of the sport with an incredible 2-mile world record and Olympic gold. I have no idea which of the three of them would’ve won. I’m not actually sure who did win lol
