53 minutes in- front pack slowing a little
Very interesting things going on in this race. 53 minutes in. Lead group of 9, including pacemakers and Mekonnen is about 40 seconds ahead of Kenenisa.
Kenenisa is running completely alone, nearest runner to him is about 8 seconds ahead, who is a ways behind the lead group. Stats on screen not showing Kenenisa's splits, only the leaders. Announcers, however, say he is still just under WR pace, leaders are just swag surfing right now.
To me, Kenenisa's face showed some nervousness, maybe even doubt, at the start. He didn't seem utterly confident to me, but of course I could be way off the mark.
He's gonna DNF, just like I said.

Pace is already slowing. Website splits have the predicted time at -1 from the WR and they haven't even hit the half
