Actually, when you run 1:55 in a race, that makes you a 1:55 runner.
Sure, it does make her a 1:55 runner semantically. However Rojo (and you?) are acting like her expected time is now 1:55 in all races going forward because she ran it once. That's not how it works.
I agree with your version. The track and field interpretation is nutcase. Your lifetime best is not your power rating or your expectation.
It always drives me nuts when Tim Hutchings matter of factly says, "she's a 1:55 performer," or similar. Meanwhile the over/under wouldn't be anything in the vicinity of that.

Only a buffoon would expect an athlete who has run 1:55 to hit their PR in every race.
But SHK has run 1:55 before, meaning she is a 1:55 runner. No one expects her to run that now, especially indoors.
A 2:01 indoors is still a far cry from 1:55 outdoors. She ran below expectations, including admittedly her own.
Obviously she did it once and will never do it again. Couldn’t even manage to get out of prelims. Embarrassing. She’ll either say it was a great run for her or blame someone
She's already been interviewed about the race and said neither of those things.
She lost to Wiley of all people and it wasn’t even close. 😂 Not much to say after that embarrassment
Hocker has been dropped many times. Did you not watch any of his races in 2024 or 2025?He needs to prove he can win like Jakob so we can conclude that peak Jakob wouldn’t challenge him. That’s how this works.
No he doesn’t. He just needs to keep winning. Today was a memorable victory but a World Indoors double would replicate Jakobs best ever indoor champs. Granted, it looks like stronger fields this year. Paris 2024 was peak Jakob. If you’re saying for the 5,000, its hard to compare different races especially when Hockers style is so different than Jakobs.
I remember He was on a podcast after worlds last fall and he said one big difference in his approach now is that he doesn’t peak for USAs anymore. He peaks for worlds. He said at USA outdoors last year his goal was to make the team. That was the job. Probably the same here. Win is good, but get on the team and get ready to go for the win at worlds. Didn’t need to dominate here. He will do that in a month (hopefully).
I HATE Peacock coverage with a passion. Massive commercial break during distance events every time, often missing the breaking move. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I prefer the sites like Flotrak and Runnerspace that show the whole race with no commercials. I bit the bullet and paid for Flotrak to watch the Diamond League, and have gotten to see a lot if other races with that subscription as well. I think it was 100% worth it.
This is the dude who's paying the worst scammers in the sport.
I am not a dude. I have not been unhappy with the service. I have been able to watch a lot of races and that is it. I don’t know about any scams by Flotrak. Just saying that I have had it since last spring and the coverage has been good. It is great to be able to see a whole distance race with no commercials. Not sure why that is wrong.
She is not a 1:55 runner. She has only broken 1:58 four ties in her entire career. Wiley has already done it four times at her age. Mu has done it 10 times. Hurta has focused on the 800m her entire career and her best times ever:

He said the same in the buildup this year. So I agree World Indoors is the measuring stick.
I would have like to see Nico run the 1500. His range better the best of the USA distance guys. It’s hard to say that the winner of the 10k outdoors last year should probably focus on the 5k and 1500m going forward. I think he has a better chance to medal in both than he does in the 10k. And it’s a much easier double.
