Klecker and Grijalva with two sub-13's in two weeks. Pretty awesome! Definitely a step up this year for both of them
Solid, but Grijalva stuck his nose in it and just could not handle the 3rd km, I'll take his effort every time, though Klecker got him at the end. Only one of the two ran to get top 3 in this race.
4:54.2 is a wild last 2K. Cheptegei and Kiplimo have to think that will be the blueprint to beating Jakob in Budapest. Will be a slower first 3k surely of course.
I think Jakob would relish a last 2K burn-up like this given his 7:54. Especially if he doesn't have to do any of the work.
Torso actually. But shoulder is not actually part of the torso.
I don't think the photo is clear at all. Kiplimo's closest shoulder is faced away from the camera, hidden behind his head. My understanding is FAT timing is basically subjective because you have to click to place the lines, and whoever clicked could have easily decided that Kiplimo's hidden shoulder was an inch farther.

I'd be interested to see the splits. Klecker did seem like he was well back at a certain point
I wish they had an image from the other side too. I feel that Kiplimo is disadvantaged by the fact it is his left shoulder vs Kejelcha's right shoulder. It is also dropped down and partially obscured by his head. But I have full trust in the Diamond League to make the right decisions!
Interesting to see another Norwegian beat Henrik (and beat Henrik's PR).
Henrik will just have his baby brother beat this guy.
In all honesty though, Henrik should focus move on from the track more on coaching and maybe try to run a good marathon while he’s young. Nothing crazy, but maybe drop a 2:12-2:14 marathon after a solid block before he retires. He’s just been left behind on the track and he’s probably not gonna run under 3:35/13:10 again.

Agreed. Almost seems like the least likely way to beat him, as opposed to a super fast race start to finish or a 51-52 last lap.
Edit: assuming the first 3k is slow. If it were a repeat of today…well, that’s nearly impossible for anyone to beat.

Very strong run by Kiplimo, but he and Kejelcha are not dropping Jakob and then what do you think is going to happen over the last 400? Jakob is winning this race, no sweat.
