this has been explained soooo many times, Retardo is a fraud, he has a stable of top runners, and gets them on a scientifically controlled EPO regiment. Retardo makes all sorts of claims on EPO yet never explains how he has gained all this knowledge.

1) he is a crook and lying his a$$ off, he needs to maintain that kenyans are better naturally and that he is the smartest coach of all time, cause its how he makes his living.

2) he is still a crook and a liar, but has been using EPO for years in kenya and has realized that the benefits get smaller and smaller the more fit said athlete becomes.

my guess its both. he has been saucing his athletes since the 90s, and thats 20yrs of perfecting his dosages, when to have the cycles start and end. like most educated people on here EPO is used during the big build up base phase and not 3 days before a comp. so for him to talk sh*t on the marathoners who get popped they are mind weak cause thats not how EPO works, its not some magic elixir you inject 3 days before your race to get a PR.

he also knows that since EPO is used during the base phase its benefits become less and less as the athlete becomes closer to 100% fit. again smart people understand this as well, EPO creates more blood cells, when you are doing time trials and anaerobic intervals EPO has very little effect. still micro dosing is on because you need to have help during the rest between intervals and recovery when the workout is done.

he also knows that EPO does what altitude does, just faster. so i have no doubts the Retardo has vast knowledge of when and how and at what altitude the sauce gets the most benefits from.

its annoying that he lies about it, but i cant blame him, he is worshiped on here, makes lots of money and keeps this kenyan superiority myth going.

are they still more naturally talented? maybe maybe not, get rid of the sauce and they are back at 2:06ish like japans NR, ryan hall got close to that and his body fell apart. i get if he wasnt soooo godly he would have hoped on the sauce and been able to at least run 2:06, 2:07s all the time and not get injured.

people troll on me hard but research has shown that EPO gives 4-5% improvement. and you plug that in and 2:03 guys are 2:06 guys, 2:06 guys are 2:09-10 guys...but no one wants to believe the reality, instead they wonder in awe of Retardo and his unstoppable kenyans

how many japanese have been popped for PEDs or EPO? what is the depth of japan marathoners? whats japans NR? was japan not crushing it on the world scene till the 90s? was not the WR in the marathon 2:06 high until the EPO era? thats right folks EPO is the game changer, and allows for the people to handle Retardos workouts.

so the best i can find is 4 total cases in all of japans sporting venues for PED use

Awesome. The sport needs more of this sort of thing. Who remembers the Japanese woman who tried to break the field in the WC in 2013 at 10,000? She just went for it but eventually got swallowed by the Africans. It was gutsy - made the race really entertaining.

What? No. Did you also think that Pat Tiernan "made" the WC 5000m this year? These moves just look silly, especially on the track where you can see the runner get destroyed later.

I don't think it's a strategy that will get him his best possible time, but he still could PR since he's ONLY run 2:09. I still think it's not an unreasonable approach if he's just trying to get a feel for what it's like to run with the best, I mean, who ever gets an opportunity to do that?
