If she's sprinting in a 400 race she's not going to be able to hold her common mile pace for another lap. I say that she would have to do some sprint training to break 50. She may not think it's worth the time to just be a top ten 400 girl.
But if she is serious about winning at 800 then I expect she will do some 400s at some point. Her times in this race will be telling.
The reason I said 50, if you look at Genzebe's hip flexors they look like sprinter hips. I've seen her work out and do sprint blasts, she has great natural sprint rhythm and power.
You don't run a 1:50 800 by running your best 400m (50s) followed by a 60 second lap. That doesn't make any sense? You run a 54 then a 56 or similar. A distance runner who can run 50s flat can do that easily if they have good endurance.
A person with 49 400m speed and 3:50 1500m endurance can run 1:50 for the 800m.
Such a woman has never existed.
Dibaba is more like a 53 girl with a 1:55 800m. She runs 14:15 for 5k. There is no way she can break 50 for the quarter.
Where in the world did you get that out of what I said? Her best lap pace for mile is usually around 56, she can't hold that for another lap.
Again, I don't understand your argument because you keep referencing this 1:50 time. No woman is ever going to run that fast. But many women run 49 every year.
If she trained for sprinting she would not automatically carry the endurance from her 3:50 because she is over taxing her reserves in a 400m, way beyond what she uses to pace for a mile, so your projections are way off. She would be just like other runners in that event.
