Based on this tweet, he's donating any prize money he gets, so he doesn't have to win for the charity to benefit. Even if he only gets 15th place, the charity would then get $1,500. Seems like it's not a stretch at all that he would get top 5. If so (if Hall gets 5th that is), the charity would get $14,000. That's pretty solid.

Let's say Hall does win. In addition to donating his prize $$$ (after taxes of course) does Hall also donate all of his bonus $$$ from Asics and his other sponsors? That $$$ is tied into winning the race so the bonus $$$ is like prize $$$ too. Pony up Hall, and BTW, that tax write off you will get next year in the form of a return needs to be donated as well. If Hall does all these things then I Will be impressed.

I'm not sure if OP was being sarcastic or not. But Hall has said he was basically inspired by the African runners... he talked to Robert Cheruiyot after he won Boston, and he (Robert) was talking about all the wells he was going to build in his hometown with his prize money. And ever since then he normally donates his prize money to a cause.

People will come up with bullshit reasons about how "talented" he is (because of course they work way harder with their 75 mile weeks) but I think we know one of the real reasons they hate him...

Hall needs to go to Detroit or other parts of the country and donate money there first.

Actually if he donates all of it, the income taxes on it will be zero, though he may still have to pay payroll taxes. And to the poster above who made it seem like he would come out ahead, the government sees prize money as income and deducts the charitable contribution against income, so the net is 0.

It would be pretty egotistical to think you are so awesome you could impress a god with how wonderful you are. Surely no religious people would be prone to such a thing!
