Honest question: can anyone explain what disability any of these men have?
They mentioned the guy who won has a vision impairment. This is stupid though…you have him running against guys w/ prosthetic legs and I don’t see how his vision impairment negatively impacts his speed over 100m.
Another complaint: Swangard shouldn’t say “6’8”” for American audiences IMO. The bar is measured in meters.
For the life of me I can't understand why they don't just respect the sport enough to leave it in metric. Only people watching are track nuts anyway.
American announcing of field events is really absurd. I wouldn’t mind if the announcer would say “the bar has been raised to 2.03 meters. Thats 6’8”.” But talking about the shotput in 69 feet and nonsense like that just has to stop

They mixed a bunch of categories together for this, I guess as a demonstration for the audience. But it made for a strange demonstration.

All real fans only pay attention to metric. They should never give feet and inches. Only real fans are watching.

I respectfully disagree. Gotta be accessible to a broad audience. Even as someone who follows the sport, I find 6’8” more impressive and easier to grasp than 2.03 meters. They list the metric marks on the screen, so that’s a good way to appeal to all.
Also: wasn’t the most exciting race yesterday the men’s mile?

Anyone that watches field events at all only pays attention to metric. It is way easier to follow in metric.
