And it seems like that person is you. 1 mile ~ 1609.34 meters, so take 111.5 * 1609.34 / 800 = 224.3 seconds = 3:44.3

(1609.34/800)*111.5=224.3 (3:44.3)

This post is emblematic of what happens frequently on this site.
I think Jakob could run 3:42-3:44 in the right conditions. I havent seen this mentioned, but it will be 84F and sunny at race time tomorrow at 1:50pm local, far from ideal conditions, doesn't look like wind will an issue though.
I think he would have a better shot at Komen's 3K world record on Sunday with his 1500 and 5000 form. Mid 70s and cloudy at race time for the 3k

McSweyn pacing too. Sure he’ll be tired. But he might be able to run a 4:54-6 first 2k, which is a way better pacing job than usual.
Sowinskis pace is set for 1:51.5. I’d imagine Jakob to be slightly behind him between that and 1:52. At the Silesia DL, Jakobs first 800 was 1:51.6 with Sowinski and Stewy almost gapping him a little (1:50.8 and 1:51.0 respectively). 3:27.14 -1:51.6 is a last 700m close of 95.54 (54.6/lap pace). If Jakob closes the unpaced portion of this race just as fast (700 + 109 for mile) he’d run it in 110.42 secs (same 54.6/lap pace). Assuming a small gap from Sowinski gets Jakob through the 800 split in 1:52 and he closes the same as Silesia(+109m) he runs 3:42.42. Three big things are different about this race:
- Stewy is racing/not pacing so it is unlikely Jakob has anyone to chase beyond 800-1k, where he could chase Stewy until 1200 in Silesia
- The race is a mile. This is not necessarily good or bad for Jakobs WR chances, but it may mean that expecting him to close the same as the 1500 is misjudged as this was a race where it was clear Jakob was spent just after crossing the finish line.
- Nuguse is racing, so Jakob may not push from 800-1300 in order to not get sniped at the line like Josh Kerr. Still, based on his comments tonight he seems to think that he will likely run away with it.
- He races the 3k on Sunday.
Things that are not different:
- The weather: During the Silesia 1500 the temperature was 87 degrees Fahrenheit during the race at 17:38 local time. The temperature for Eugene on Saturday is projected to be 84 degrees during race time.
Typical European God-complex.
I was intrigued by the race position starts. They have the outside of Jakob, Reynold, Kipsang which outside of Yared might be your favored top 3. I’d assume Nordas will go mid-pack and kick. Yared is 8 spot which could be worse. I’d hope we get a nice train behind Jakob with Kipsang, Cheruiyot, McSweyn and Yared in some order. I don’t really need Tanner taking up a spot towards the front like in the 2k, or Habz going out hard and rigging. Hopefully Mills has some gas left. More dubious about Mario and Nordas after that 2k. Laros should kick nicely.
Yared seems to have fun energetic personality while Jacob is just dry and cocky, but it's the racing that counts.

I am all for track becoming more like the WWE so I love it.
But hilarious for him to talk so big when he has lost 3 of his last 4 global champs at the 1500/mile distance. Makes the boasting even more fun. Like Kobe. Missed shots can’t get the guy down.
It's insane how lean the guy in the middle is. And I say this in the context of elite distance runners... He needs 10 lbs to be able to challenge Jakob
Word I’ve been reading is that Hayward is not exactly a very fast track for distance events. Apparently Jakob himself had acknowledged this. Perhaps that is why Jakob has not actually said this is a WR attempt.
I do not expect to see the WR go down tomorrow, but keeping it in mind if conditions are ideal. I do, however, expect to see a great showdown, hopefully between Jakob and Nuguse, and the AR go down. The time is now for the goose.

Another competitor surely would have seen red (Trying to mug me out, you c**t?) had he been in Nuguse's position at the press conf. Maybe Yared was similarly but less discernibly irritated.
