Looks like he has it but not 100% over. Lead was 12 seconds just a few minutes ago.

Wow Sharon Lokedi Wins It In 2:23:23

A huge, huge upset. One for the ages. Lokedi is a 1-time NCAA champion but was 45th place in her last NCAA XC appearance and now she is the New York City Marathon champion.

Big victory for Under Armour as well as to our knowledge have ever had a podium finisher in a World Marathon Major.

Hellen Obiri has been dropped

Salpeter is now pushing the pace. Less than 5km to go for women.

The biggest surprise by far is Sharon Lokedi being up here. She was  a pretty good NCAA runner and an NCAA champion but not a superstar. She ran 30:52 for 2nd at NY Mini but nothing hinted at this performance

Do Nascimento has fallen down and is receiving medical attention

1:40:30 or so on the race Do Nascimenot ended up lying down on the road and police are giving him medical attention.

Pretty unbelievable. Never seen a leader of a major marathon fall to the ground while leading and have to abandon the race. Hoping the best for him.

Do Nascimento stops and walks during mile 20

During mile 20, Do Nascimento pulls over to the side of the road and walks for a few steps. He started pumping his arms in an exaggerated fashion to try to get himself going again and resumed running. It took about 10 seconds total.

Women's pace apears to be slowing as now 5 in lead pack

Do Nascimento takes bathroom break at mile 18!

Craziness in the men's race. With a 2-minute lead, leader Daniel Do Nascimento had to duck into the bathroom. His stop took 18 seconds, according to John Anderson. Still has a big lead but things are getting interesting.

Women down to 3, 19th mile of day the fastest of day

5:14 mile for mile 19 the fastest of the day for the women.

Lornah Salpeter is off the back and we've got Hellen Obiri in her debut, World champ Gebreslase and last year's runner-up Cheptoo.

30k split is 16 seconds faster than last year so course record still a possibility.

Do Nascimento's lead decreases ... by 1 second.

For the 1st time all day someone has cut into Do Nascimento's lead. At 20k he led by 2:13. At 25k he led by 2:12 so Chebet had but into the lead by only 1 second.

Roughly 10 miles to go.

Do Nascimento's lead is still growing. He led by 2:06 at 20k and 2:13 at halfway. The big test will be what happens to him when he goes up hill at Queensboro bridge which he is starting up now.

Do Nascimento 1:01:22 at halfway and lead still INCREASING his lead over everyone else.

For reference when the course record was set in 2011, the leaders (pack of 10) hit halfway in 63:17.

But Do Nascimento's lead is still growing.  He led by 2:06 at 20km and at halfway leads by 2:13.
