Should be a great race - no 10k this year?

Don't forget the 15k a few weeks later - 3 loops of the 5k course.

If you're not going to advertise the women's prize structure then you're not going to get women to come out. In fact, I might not come out just out of spite.

How come the women only get to run 5K?

No 10k this year. We wanted to maximize participation and the 8k made more sense for that. Additionally, we thought it would be fun to provide an opportunity to race the same course as many of us ran in college. Should be interesting to see the improvement or lack thereof since graduation!

Women run a 5k because we are emulating the college cross country standard.

NYC chick, I'm sorry you feel that way. We will have prizes from Brooks for the top women, but with a limited budget, and judging by the quality from last year (17 women showed up), the best use of our funds is to take care of the top men.

Another way you might want to handle the situation is to get a bunch of women to run with you, and we will provide prize money if women particpation exceeds women's costs (prize money). Maybe we can partner in this effort?

If you dont come to the race everyone will be so disappointed...

Pete Pfitzinger says I should race at 8 to 10k on the Saturday two weeks before my marathon (Philadelphia), so I'm in.

By the way, she spells it Steinem.

forget about webb... i'm stoked for this race, man. i'll be in town to watch my buddy run the nyc marathon the next day and I want to see if I can break my vcp college pr of 25:39. maybe I can get a team of 5 together too to make a run at some money, though my buddy said that hansons may go since its a brooks event. this is going to be sweet man. old school cross. gotta love it.

Yeah, I heard that a lot of top guys are going to be at this race because they are going to be in town to watch the marathon anyway. It was a good move to run the 8k course too.

I heard a few guys from Hanson's and Team USA MN were going. Would be cool to see what some of the older Big East guys could do now. Being a former Big Easter, would like to see what Watson, maybe even Dan Wilson or Keith Kelly might do on that course now. Hopefully they all show up.

That's sweet. I'm sure some of the top local guys will run as well. Westchester has some good guys that can probably give nearly anyone a run for their money.

Boston has the Mayor's Cup, so good on MTC for getting a good cross race going in NYC. VCP is such a better course than Franklin too. I'm pretty excited for the whole weekend.

This deserves a bump. Brooks and MTC are putting out some nice money to put on a quality race in the best city in the world. I'm looking forward to it.

Any Ironman awards for those running the badboy and then USATF NE's at franklin on Sunday?

what time? and will all the other races that day interfere with each other? I believe ther are hundreds of HS runners racing that day (psal, chsaa)

I wish more races would do the same thing. Nothing like running a 30 minute 10k and getting squat while a 38

minute woman takes home a grand.

i think the real iron men would run the 8k and the marathon the next day.
