I had heard something about Winter having his sprinters run cross country in the Fall.
I had a chance to ask Lee Evans when he was helping coach at University of Washington in the 80's and he said it was true, they all ran cross country.
"....legendary coach of the San Jose State Spartan Track and Field teams from 1941-1974. During his tenure at San Jose State, Bud coached 37 world record holders, 27 Olympians and 102 NCAA All-Americans."
Probably the most successful track coach of all-time.

Having read his book, I can easily believe he was a coaching genius. He took a nothing school and made it a world-beater. He embodied the "Champions everywhere" spirit of coaching that Arthur espoused.
BTW, use the speed drills in the videos properly and you will run much faster with a massive reduction in injury risk, in particular injuries of the hamstrings and rear kinetic chain..
