Their top runner is a 13:27 man. They just dominated RMAC, which is as competitive as any D1 conference. I think there's a shot they would beat NAU and all the rest.

Are you being serious??
Not a chance in hell.
Would they qualify for nationals? Yeah. Would they win? Not even close.
Podium? Yes.
Win? No.
I just don't see their 5-6-7 making the needed impact.

No.
Not this season, but podium some seasons.
I would venture to say if you took the all time top 7 from Adams, and then threw in Coach Joe Vigil for good measure, there wouldn't be too many D1 schools, that could match either with a current squad, avsquad from best season, or even for some D1 programs with an all star roster.
Their 5-6-7 guys will be around 50-100th. Adams State’s would be 150-200. 14 flat and 29 flat guys are ranked 100th in D1.
Nope, too many of their runners would be academically ineligible.

This is true.
Not too many schools are going to match Pat Porter for a #1 runner or Joe Vigil for coach.
I don't know that they would be among the top 3 in Colorado, let alone the nation.
To put things in perspective, Adams lost to UCLA at the Stanford Invitational. UCLA was 6th at Pac-12 and 6th at the West Regional and did not make nationals. While in a fairer system UCLA would make the dance, they are still nowhere near a podium contending team. Those that are saying Adams would make the podium and compete for the title are delusional.

AKA Gwen Jorgensen
Joedirt got it right. Adams may be able to finish 15th-20th at D1 nationals but they may not have even qualified either.
No.
Next question.
Yes they have a 13:29 5k. They then drop to 13:52, 14:14, 14:28, and 15 flat. BYU goes 13:37, 13:37, 13:38, 13:39, and 13:52. Do you see a problem with your assertion?
No, on their best years they podium, worst years they get top 25. I'm pretty certain they would at least qualify for nationals every year. This year probably around 15th give or take a couple places.
A lot of their best cross guys haven't run 5 or 10ks on the track but have impressive 1500/mile/3k times so they are better than what their track times say and they typically peak at the right time.
Since they'd have to make it out of the mountain region they would be close to not even making nationals. I would put them around 25th if you also take into account that Elias Gedyon is about 3 years past his D1 eligibility. I remember one year Flotrack called them the giant slayers, and then they got 4th at a Griak meet that had only one ranked D1 team competing.
Minnesota's 5th guy in the 5k was 14:19. Minnesota had the NCAA champ in the steeple. They are nowhere near qualifying for the NCAA championship. Don't be so quick to state that Adams qualifies every year. OK State was 4th in the regional with Minnesota and they just squeaked in finishing 4th. I don't think Adams would beat OK State or Minnesota. Certainly the assertion by the OP that they could win this year is a joke.
1992 would have been their best opportunity for that. They won Griak that year when ALL teams competed in the same race. Same year we won d1's, but got beat by the Kenyans of Lubbock Christian. Adams beat Lubbock that year by the same amount that Lubbock vm beat us at our home meet.
Guessing a bunch of 50 year olds wouldn't win it this year. The thread really started out with the OP stating that Adams could win this year. There may have been teams from decades ago but I don't think any D2 or D3 teams would have been close in the past 20 years.

Yeah but BYU would just choke their way to 5th.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
