You know those people who go out jogging in the middle of the day in a crowded street downtown?
Why?
So uncomfortable. Blazing hot, you have to make your way through people, cars pollution

Showing off?
Because I spent 20 hrs flying, the next two days in meetings and at dinners, and if I don’t get outside for the one two hour break I happen have in the middle of the day, I won’t have seen daylight in 4 days straight. And I’m not going to cab over to the park half a mile from my hotel where I’m going running just so you don’t run out of stupid questions to start threads over. Gah.
Maybe they want to run directly from where they live/where they're staying.
It takes me 3—5 km to get to a decent park, depending on the park I choose. On the way Im dodging motorcycles and dogs on leashes.
I have to run one mile down Market Street to get to the Embarcadero.
Some Tips:
Look up from your phone
Don’t take selfies
Don’t hold hands with your family
Move your tech bus line to one side
Merge with trafffix when you get off BART

Where are you that it’s blazing hot in November?
He is definitely from UAE
Because running downtown is fun and a good way to get to know the city.

If you’re just taking advantage of lunch hour to get a run in that’s fine. But here in toronto so many running clubs (associated w shoe brands, shoe stores) do their runs on the sidewalks. Not only is it hard to get a decent run in that way, but imo is obnoxious to the rest of society when running on the sidewalk in large groups, and likely does not help civic support for runners. Obviously there are reasons why it makes sense (snow in winter, etc) but I think we should be careful about organized group runs on sidewalks.

If so interesting. People jog on sidewalks in UAE? Thought it would be viewed as haram

This is it a lot of times
Maybe...
They run from where they live or work.
Limited time for a lunch hour break. Commuting too and from another place to run reduces time spent running.
They may have other commitments or a long commute that makes running in other places/other times impossible.
Costs money to drive, take a cab, or public transport to/from another place to run. Depending on traffic, it may be faster to run to/from these other places anyway.
Yes it may not be ideal, but any run is better than no run at all.
I have a great deal of respect for these runners.
And being able to go out and run anywhere/anytime is one of the great advantages of being a runner.
You know those people that post really obvious questions asking why other people do some normal things?
Do you think they are ignorant, or trolls?
If trolls, do you think they're American trolls, Russian trolls, Ukrainian trolls, or some other kind?
What's that name supposed to mean? "Little banana" or "to whiten us" as Google translates it?
The majority of people only know a few major streets around where they live, and never venture beyond whats comfortable.
Not quite sure why the OP is getting flamed. I see this problem in Annapolis, MD, quite often. I’ve actually even seen people trying to jog down the sidewalk on Main Street during a parade when it’s packed. It really does come down to a lack of common sense/situational awareness. If you see shoulder-to-shoulder crowds, get over yourself and go a different way.
P.S. If any Navy XC guys are reading this, y’all need to ease up through Annapolis too. I’ve been shoulder checked more than once as your pack has come flying down the sidewalk. Rarely if ever received an apology.

This. Not everyone here is a professional runner. If you're a professional at something else, you have to fit your running around it.
To run away from terrorist bombs and the religious police. Or to get to work because Arab bosses hardly pay anything to foreign workers.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
