Yes, I believe some wacko would do this. Some wacko shot Steve Scalise. Some wacko shot Gabby Giffords. (BTW, only Scalise's was politically motivated).

A great conspiracy theory is that someone on the far left did this to make conservatives look bad, but I find the simpler answer is most often the right answer.

That was not on Wednesday. Maybe on "a" Wednesday but not last week.

Well thank goodness the assailant only shot at people and did not use a bomb! Whew!

The broader point is that both sides have been tossing out rhetoric that was going to lead to this. When you have anarchistic groups rioting and destroying property and white nationalists marching and yelling and screaming then politicians saying things like "When the other side goes low, you go lower" and a president who has not done anything to put out the flames you eventually are going to end up with violence.

At some point some nutjob looks and thinks "Well running Mitch McConnell out of a restaurant did not change things so we need to take it another step". Well somewhere down that line is violence. Then you have on the other side nutjobs thinking "Well if they are going to yell at my guy, then I am going to throw bricks at their guy" and more violence.

Republican district offices have been damaged.

So sending bombs in the mail actually does not surprise me.
