I'm running the Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday and during one of my final runs yesterday, tripped and fell. I've not had a chance to get scanned but at best, I have severely sprained fingers in my right hand. More likely I've fractured something.
The hand has swelled up, and i can't hold anything or make a fist. I plan to run (and was hoping for a PB) but anyone got experience of this? how much slower will I be? i was planning on painkillers, and then going for it.
I've run (although not raced) with a fractured hand and it didn't seem to have any effect on my running. In my case the pain was not much as long as I didn't try to use the hand or bump it into anything. Just be careful not to hit anything with your hand and you should be fine.

Serious painkillers might be considered a PED. Tread lightly my friend.

Don't take painkillers. They could mess with you, and could contain a banned substance.
But yeah, you should run. Just do your best to ignore the hand.

Are you 49 years old? If so, be careful. When a female Kenyan outkicks you, you'll want to pound a table in frustration.
