First post from a lurker. A sub-3 hour marathon chaser and been running recreationally for a few years.
Seeing many elites opting for short tights over split shorts lately on marathon race day, I decided to give them a go this training cycle for an upcoming November race.
Sizing seems to be tricky. There shouldn't be TOO much compression so as to be restricting range of motion, right? Or are these elite guys wearing them for the additional hip/thigh support?
I've skimmed dozens of threads on LRC and read arguments for and against short tights based on aesthetics, recovery, comfort, etc. I haven't found any about how to size them properly.
For those that wear them and feel like they give some performance benefit, what is your process for picking out a pair? Do you consider thickness, material, inseam length, support? My goal is simply to go as fast as my body can possibly handle on race day.
