I am currently running upwards of 60mpw and will be going up to 70mpw within the next few weeks but I can't seem to drop stubborn body fat. I am 5'7" and 128lbs and have a fairly good composition (hovering around 10% body fat +/-2%). No matter how much I seem to run, the stubborn body fat on my lower abs, love handles, chest and rear delts seem unaffected while my arms, legs, neck, upper back, etc. get incredibly lean. I am no stranger to lifting (but have not lifted in a while to make sure nothing interferes with my recovery) and have a very balanced diet, however as I increase my mileage I have been upping my carbs to make sure my muscle glycogen is always at full capacity. I know that in order to get in to peak racing shape I need to be shredded to the bone and carrying as little excess weight as possible and need some help to get there. A year ago I tried going low carb for a while and while I succeeded in losing a lot of body fat, I broke out in acne (I never get acne), felt lethargic, and my runs suffered, so I will never let a "keto" style diet hurt my running again. I would be open to limiting my carbs, but would like to keep balanced macros. Currently eating 160-180 grams of protein, 55-65 grams of fat, and around 180-200g carbs. I also eat plenty of fruits and vegetables (2 serving minimum of each per day). Any personal anecdotes or advice to help me get leaner while also getting faster? Any and all comments are appreciated.
