So, I am a recent collegiate graduate (23 years old) who also just completed my first marathon. Training leading up to the marathon largely consisted of 10k training for conference which was in mid May. Between conference and the marathon I only had 3 real long run that were over 12 miles, one of which gave me a glimpse of hope (17 miles, 6:07/mile average), but other than that I was averaging ~40 miles a week at best. End result was a 2:41:58 debut.
Upon returning, do you think I will see improvement time-wise if I train for the marathon specifically with higher mileage and more long runs? Will beginners luck mean that 2:41 is what my PR will be for a while?
