Here's a brain teaser:
Galen Rupp is currently without an achilles as they source enough testoboost to regrow one in the lab. With only 1 Achilles, where would Galen finish at nationals in an average year?

He could literly do a tempo and win.
In response to the questions about the combined regionals results I posted:
What the heck does "normalized by pre-nationals race" mean??? - gdeegz /
what does "normalized" mean -Schtick
I only spent 15min on this but what I did was compare only the runners who ran both the region and pre-nats, and then created a linear model based on the difference in times between the courses. (Did this for all 8 regions). Then used that model to create a normalized set of times of all national qualifiers. And then ordered and scored the region based on that. The idea was to try and create a formula to combine all 8 regions. The formula is probably crap since the time difference are not linear and the sample is small, especially for the regions that only sent one or two teams to pre-nats.
You're telling me the kid that WON pre-nats by 15 seconds is about to get [12]th? These things are jokes. - holiday hoobity whaty
Like I said, this purely based on Regionals performances, and then those times adjusted to compare all 8 regions on a level field. Maybe if Patel had not come in 6th in his region, he would be higher up. None of this prediction is personal opinion, just pure data from the regional meet. Combined with a crappy formula to compare regions.

No way Haverford's gonna be able to come in 4th. Without Gearinger they are screwed. They do not have a runner past their top 4 that can step up.
Haverford will end up with the 2nd best 1-4 after NCC, but they will have a 5th man in the 200s place. Letting them scrape by to a 10th overall finish.
Which team is going to be the early shooter- one that is ranked highly all season, and blows up at nats, placing >10 spots behind their rank?
Yeah your "data" and predictions are bogus. Also, I doubt Patel went all in at regionals since regionals don't mean anything to NCC. No need to exert a full effort when the real race is a week later. Not to mention the dude had hypothermia so I doubt a fluke like that would be any indicator to how nationals will go. Obviously he is much more fit and primed to run faster than he did at regionals. Unless of course it's sub 20 degrees.
Supposed to be about 30 in sloshkosh on saturday. Days leading up are in the high 30s, low 40s, so we may see some mud. If the ground is hard it will be a primo day for those tough midwestern corn-schuckin' boys and girls. Since the east coasters were literally born in a mudbath, they may be favored as things get sloppy.
so real talk, does Patel actually have hypothermia or not?
Interesting decision to put Maximillian Sparks all the way down at 164. I think he crack the top 130 easy.
Nah, i don't think so. He did not look relaxed at Regionals.
Not to nitpick, but Ansel Richards really should be higher up. He's seen enough competition that I would move him up from 248 to around 235.

East? I thought you said Weast
Alright, everyone. I want to know: Who's going to be up front? Will anyone run away with it - by means of LaMere or Lau? The team battle for 1st will not be close, let's make sure that's settled, but what about 2-4? LAX beats WashU at regionals, but is ranked behind them (and RPI), so how will that match up take place? Who will shoccckkkk the nation?
My predictions: Patel will win, O'Connor (the better one) will get 2nd, but they'll battle down to the last 400 or so. Hodkinson will crack top 10. RPI gets 2nd, LAX 3rd, WashU 4th. The NE will go home DEVISTATED, as their only hope - Amherst - will get 11th. Shock the nation bid: Otterbein 6th.
Northeast going home devastated indeed. Williams runners came down with food poisoning last night. They were ready to do BIG things at the dance.
