You really have no clue how slow the average person is, whether they run a lot or not.
^This.

I don't know, but I intend on breaking 3 hours next year and making it 41 years...yes I really do.
The record is actually 45 years (and counting) by this guy:
http://www.dwrunning.com/dwrunner/dave-waltersHe ran 2:55 at Chicago this year and ran his first sub-3 in 1973. He is 63.

A teammate of mine was pretty inspired by this and decided to tackle the same goal, which I told him might've been a bit bold haha. He started blogging about it and it'll be fun to see if he comes anywhere close. 30+ years is a crazy long time.

What marathons have you done so far?
Now do 30 sub-3 hour marathons in 1 year
The only issue with Mark's form is the upper body. Watch all the best in the world (and even Zatopek back in the day) - arm carriage very high in a "v" palms almost by the face.
I heard about Mark, he is running a lot, and he said that he tries every day that he is challenging himself every day by running more and more from one day to another. Recently found and a girl that makes challenges and she got the challenge to run as much as she, she was challenged to run for almost 24 hours. She has a lot of videos with the challenges she makes. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeLur4zw9Yh_HEaqu08W7_uTOMtpjKfEs
Looks like his streak ended at 30. After the 3:04 in the miserable conditions at Boston he ran 3:02 at Marine Corps.
Don’t forget Walter Fagnani, long streak of 100Ks until last year. Ended age 93? Did 17:35 in his 90s.
Is this guy subject to out-of-competition drug testing? Any TUEs?

He was only 51 last year and 52 this year, but already unable to break 3 hours. The M55 (55+ years old) WR is 2:25.
Turnbull ran 2:41 aged 65, Whitlock 2:54 aged 73.
Seems like there was a limit with only doing easy running every day.
Turnbull did long runs, tempos and fast speed work. He would drop down to sub 70/400m-pace during some of this fartlek runs in the woods.
Whitlock did frequent races over 3000-10000 meters to keep him sharp, sometimes two a week. That was his main speedwork.
So much about running easy every day being the optimal training stimulus for master marathon runners. It's NOT. For ultras, yes, but for marathons faster running is absolutely imperative, even if you are a master's runner!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Guys between age of 45 and 55 do you think about death or does it seem far away
