Since when is rupp running at pre?
you gotta understood, the reefer does things to a young man's mind.
Nobody said for sure that he is running the Pre; maybe he is not...but Webb ran it in grade 12 and I would expect Rupp, as a U freshman, to run it as well. I mean, why not? Right conditions and he could go 3:55! I assume that the Eugene fans are just crazy about the idea of seeing him compete at the Pre...especially this year. So I, like many, watch the news releases to see which event he'll be in.
stupid post, use your head for a change.
he should be preparing for NCAA's by recovering from the 2 10 k's and 5 k's he has run during the last month. another race would be foolish.
first of all, there isn't a mile being held at pre. second, he's not going to race before ncaa's. that's why not.
there is a mile at pre this year as always, the bowerman mile, featuring bernard lagat, meet director tom jordan said the mile field will be announced monday or tuesday, personally i dont think rupp will run as ncaa starts june 8 to june 11th.
There's a mile at Pre
Get your facts right chucky before you post!
Have you ever heard of the Bowerman Mile?
They run it pretty much every year at the Pre
and they are running it this year...if you'd
bother to look.
As for the guy called "Stupid Post"...Rupp running
a fast mile right now would take NOTHING away from
any performance a week later dipshit. In fact,
a rapid mile under 4 minutes would not only be
good speed work for his main events, but it would
do a lot for his confidence.
5 tacos say he runs the Bowerman Mile!

in 2001, the guy from CSU ran pre and then won ncaas 1500 later in the week

You really are an idiot.
Are you honestly serious?
I mean, he\'s only the number one Junior distance runner in America...heck, he should probably run two races every weekend as part of the dog and pony show for all the track fans in America.
Take the show on the road even!
He could be in every region of the country or world for that matter now that school is ending...right?
Get a clue dude. No wonder American distance runners a fried before they reach their mid-twenties! He\'s only 19!!!
He just ran 35000 meters (over 20 miles!) in races over the past 30 day period! You want him to run a 5 second P.R. in the mile too? Then come back with a race at the NCAA\'s?
You need to have your head examined dude...
Its the Pre man! A chance for him to just relax and enjoy running in front of his growing fans/believers, against some of the best milers in the world. Look at what Webb did in the middle of a heavy racing schedule in grade 12?
And what better workout to do 5 days before the championships? What might he do anyways in workout? I mean he is not going to sit for five days and do nothing but rest is he? No, he will have a couple of pretty darn hard workouts and taper the last 3 days. Perhaps at this juncture, vis a vis the weekend meet, a mile race, (time trial), is one of the BEST THINGS HE COULD DO. Nobody will expect him to win, he likely is chomping at the bit to run in the premier event in the US...and in front of Pre's,(Rupp's) People...so there is no pressure to win, lots of hair raising adrenaline, his first sub 4 mile, and JUST PLAIN FUN man! Do you really think that one measily quick mile is going to enervate an animal like Rupp with his unbelievable recovery powers?
Well, my opinion, is that it could do a lot more to help him then hurt him...and my belief is that he would want to do it way more then you can imagine. We'll see.
no one takes more big shits on their keyboards as you do, qcassidy.
after watching two of the best 1500m runners in the country get hurt running 1500m's at their conference meets your continued advocacy of this "fun workout" is idiotic. you don't do anything to screw-up your chances at nationals. it is plain stupid, okay? get that through your skull.
