My garmin has no issues with this. the HR is actually better with more sweat. don't know about the fit bit.
I have the FitBit Ionic. It is waterproof and can be used for swimming, so sweat would not be an issue. The battery life is awesome. Without charging you can get 4-5 days of battery life, depending on how you use it. Obviously, that goes down when using the built-in GPS.
I h ad the Fitbit Surge and sweating was no problem. I jumped in the pool with it every now and then and no problems.
But, don't buy Fitbit, get a Garmin. Fitbit is garbage and there is nothing they can do that Garmin doesn't do better.
I have fitbit surge. It's garbage in hot temperatures. It does not show accurate hr while running and does barely well on easy runs.
Always go for chest strap hr. More accurate than optical hr.
