Improve your skill set in this won't be difficult to do because it's not.

I hear there is a new startup called Google that recently created a way to index a web of pages. I think they are calling it a search engine or something like that. Give it a try, it may be the next big thing.
Or you can try Hadoop. The space to store all the text of LRC would be small compared to a single hard drive these days. You should be able to easily process it all. Heck, putting it in any traditional sql server should let you do the same thing.
Not sure if your sarcastic or what but the search engine on LetsRun is already powered by Google.

What about deleted threads and posts? There have been a lot of deletings going on this year.
None of the deleted threads were counted since they no longer exist publicly

Your first request would be similar to calculating the most commonly used words on this site and its difficult to do. Basically you have to index all of the images that have ever been linked to and then from there check from each post how many times any of those phrases / links / etc appear. I may consider going down this route eventually but its not simple

Indexing every word ever put into letsrun would be computationally significant. Especially on the hardware its running on.

Both you guys actually contribute valuable content to the running portion of the board and if you post on a non-running topic it is never in a trollish manner..

Well I no longer have an office job where I barely work and just wander the internet 90% of the day.
Still, I’ve gotten to the point where I just respond to topics where I feel the vast majority of Letsrunners are lacking knowledge or experience....pretty much just strength training and military topics.
Every now and again a PAVVO thread will sprout wings and I’ll respond to that.

This is a great data set. I only scraped back like 1 yr because the slowdown on letsrun servers was obvious when I was making requests.
Could you post the data somewhere?
I always liked a kind of 'h-index' of thread starters:
Who has the largest N, where N = number of threads with at least N replies.

Great to see the boards bounce back after the Bad Wigins years.

Given the permission of the BroJo's I would post the data set. I have been trying to get the data up onto Google Big Query which would allow me (or potentially anyone if it was made public) to query the dataset utilizing Google's servers which would allow for extremely fast processing and users are able to process 1TB of data per month for free.
Thats an interesting question to pose to the data. That would probably be a more interesting metric than seeing who has the most posts

Miss you on the DGTD thread. Like the other fella said good posts.

Before you pups get going why not extract an entire copy of what exists on letsrun and store it locally. Example tables:
* threads
* posts
* users
Shoot for the stars and find most talked about runners. Could be Webb or Rupp (or even Rossi).

I commend you on compiling these statistics. I pity those poor souls who may post, on average, up to a hundred times a day!
8. rojo (11311)
11,311 posts sounds like a lot but we are talking 16 years so that comes out to less than 2 posts per day (1.9).
I'm disappointed actually in my productivity. Well I guess when I was dominating the college coaching ranks, I didn't have time to post as much as I do now as I was doing about 7 per day a few years it looks like so when I was coaching I must have never been posting.
Quality over quantity is best.
Nobody likes the golden corral type when it comes to running info.

It would take forever to pull that off Letsrun's servers but once you get it, I have a pretty kickass computer that should be able to rip through that kind of stuff if you were interested
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
