Read he had been really sick for weeks after NXN. Getting back from the FLU possibly. Few rust buster races. Would be great to see him break 4 or close to it.
Yeah hopefully he will...his VA Showcase performance was not the best.
did anyone get a split from his dmr last weekend? he looked reasonably fast and closed well but he was well out of the race
4:03.26

I agree. I don't get why if you are running 2:27 in a 1k and getting third in a HS meet you think you can break 4:00.
Why don't these guys train and get a base? I know I know. And I was there at Cornell several times. You get near four and it can ruin your entire year as you want to chase the time indoors instead of getting a proper base.
He ran 4:03.
Their were 9 sub 4.00 miles at this meet 5 pro's and 4 Oregon runners GO DUCKS
Seems like he is chasing some sort of a record. Where were the other fast high schoolers and why was hasty seeded above reed brown and other guys who run sub 4? The 4:01 time he was seeded with was an outdoor mile. Seems like a lot of hype around him and no finish On a national stage against high school talent. I would be Hengst, Hoey, affolder, etc are going to pass him at new balance indoor.
He may have to redshirt next year. Oregon had multiple guys go sub 4.
Chasing 4 is like doing meth. Hasty reportedly knocks out routine 100 mile weeks so his base is probably better than most. Not that it makes it smart, but he can get away with it fairly well.

Is that your Oregon education coming out? That school is a disservice to the student-athlete. Once they leave the Temple of Nike, and then figure out they're not good enough to make a living in our niche sport, they have zero to fall back on.
Also, there is no possessive in his sentence describing pros (professionals), not pro's.
Doing 100 mile weeks in high school sounds like a terrible idea.
Am I the only one that thinks that he won't improve much? Idk what it is but the way he runs seems like he'll hit his ceiling in the mile rather quickly
He looked like he was running with everything he had yesterday. He doesn’t have a cruising gear. Obviously, he can go sub 4 so he will be competitive but I think he will be better at 5k. Probably a 13:45 someday but I am not predicting him to be one of the top Americans.

Yeah, but you missed the 3 other 'mistakes' he made. So what Klown College did you not graduate from?

The problem is that high schoolers are obsessed with the mile. It took me until the outdoor season of my senior year of high school to realize my strength was the 3200/5k. Brody could be a true distance man better suited for the 3k-10k. He clearly has talent at the 5k distance with his performances in XC. I wouldn't even consider the mile a distance event, considering that you're basically running most of it on the edge of an anaerobic state and that the 3k/5k talent has a much stronger correlation than mile/3k talent.
Hasty liked to sneak in from behind. He does not like to lead, hence all of the entries into college meets. He and his coach like to use a rabbit to pace him. The reason he was crushed at the VA showcase is that other runners have learned how to race him. His coach likes him to lay back and then explode the last 600 m. Problem is other kids are staying behind him now(troutner) on distance events or just flat out faster on shorter distance like the 1k(Hoey, Hengst). He is under a lot of pressure to perform from his coach and the hype around him on milesplit and he has a target on his back. My prediction is that no one pushes the pace at milrose and there will be a few guys under 4:10, but not 4 mins.

I honestly wasn't aware that I needed to completely dissect his disasterous post. I felt like highlighting the very first one proved the point succinctly.
