Vikings have huge advantage in coaching. Pederson is a below average game manager. His ignorance showed again last week with two failed challenges and bad decision making which was bailed out by defense. Plus the Eagles fumbled 4 times! But we're lucky to recover them all. Vikings defense is historically good and is great at all levels (linemen, linebackers and in coverage). Vikings offense is good and has playmakers who can get it done. Keenum set NCAA records for a reason. Thielen is a beast who is special at finding holes vs zone D and Diggs is also a number one type receiver. Nick foles has not looked good and that is a bad formula to bring versus Minny D. He has not thrown the ball down field at all this season and can not be compared to his 27td 2int season self. He is no longer that QB. Eagles only hope here is to force a few turnovers and not turn it over themselves. They must run the ball well behind a stout O-line to have a chance. However that's all a huge prayer and I see Foles losing a fumble and throwing a pick or two. Keenum is indeed prone to a bad INT here and there, but at least he can move the ball with ease. Vikings 23 Eagles 6. Maybe philly gets a late pity TD to make it closer. I'm not a fan of either team but I follow the NFL as an avid fan and see the Vikings winning.
Irrelevant stat of the day: According to ESPN, road teams are 7-2 in non-Super Bowl matchups of 13-win teams.
Though many stats by you guys rival this in irrelevance.
Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!
An Eagles fan made two good quotes recently. How accurate the one about players/coaches actually playing for super bowl winning teams is anyone's guess. It's probable that came out of a Eagles fan newspaper or website.
I have read every post on this thread. There are many Vikings fans on it and there have been 50 or so great posts. (Yes many have been repeated but I am taking that into account. I'm estimating 50 great posts by Vikings fans) Meanwhile the Eagles have 3 quality posts...LOL x 7!!!
Vikings 50 Eagles 3
Turn it up Viking fans. Show your horns!!!
You have to say more than one sentence and you have to compare more than the quarterbacks for it to be a good post. I do not consider this one to be a high quality post. Even Gomer Pyle knows a good post when he sees one! Convince people as one would in a college debate.
Your turn Eagles fans if you've got the guts!
The Vikings’ defense is noticeably worse on the road, giving up 6.5 more points, twice as many rushing yards (112) and 1.5 yards/carry more as the visiting team. History is on the Eagles side.
-Since the start of 2001, the Eagles are 6-2 against the Vikings, and 2-0 in the postseason. Additionally, Philadelphia is 9-2 in their last 11 home games (including playoffs) against Minnesota.
- The Vikings are 6-16 all-time in postseason road games. They have not won such a game since a 31-17 victory Jan. 9, 2005 in Green Bay.
Keenum has never played a road playoff game and he will play like a deer in the headlights inside the most hostile, loudest environment imaginable. There will be no last minute miracle to bail you out this time. The identity of the Eagles is in the fan base and they are pissed off. The coach has been disrespected, the team has been disrespected by all the talking heads.
As if the Eagles didn't have enough bulletin board material, the NFL posted this pic on their FB page & then realized how disrespectful this was to Philadelphia. The post was removed from their Facebook site. Talk about a team playing on pure hate, the Eagles are fired up that and will utterly destroy the Vikings and prove all the doubters wrong.
Thank you for posting.
I've got news for you almost every team in the history of the NFL, NCAA, and any high school in America gives up more points on the road! (I heard an analyst say stuff like this one and couldn't believe he actually keeps his job. I mean that's supposed to be a convincing point in some way?)
Remember that this is 2018. It's not 2001 or 2005. I'm pretty sure almost all of those players are gone from those rosters.
More talk about the quarterback, as if it matters whether Keenum has played in a road playoff game or not. It's not all about the quarterback. This season has already proven that. It's about team.
Pederson backed up Brett Favre for Green Bay in 1996 and has a Superbowl ring from Superbowl XXXI,
Ok, let's compare the current season's defensive stats: The Vikings on the road give up 19 points per game and the Eagles give up 13 points per game at the Linc. If both defenses match their season averages, then it's advantage Eagles, boom!!!!!

I'd give you less than that if I could.
Aw, c'mon, the Loudoun Valley Vikings aren't going to win the Superbowl this year!
Their boys' track and cross country teams are exceptional (including winning their state meets and, of course, the NXN title), but let's draw the line. Coach Joan Hunter did talk about how son Drew's freshman XC team -- with a lame un-coach (before Joan and Marc revamped the program big time) -- played more Ultimate Frisbee than they ran during "practice", but it's a huge step from UF to the Superbowl! I mean, REALLY!!
I will give you three reasons why the Vikings will lose on Sunday (from Minn sports writer, Daily Norseman’s Christopher Gates).
1) The Eagles’ defensive interior is just too tough
"The Eagles boast one of the game’s best defensive tackle combinations in Fletcher Cox and Tim Jernigan. While the Vikings’ offensive line has been vastly improved over what we saw from them the last time these two teams faced off, this could turn out to be one of their tougher tests of the season. Not only are Cox and Jernigan outstanding against the run, spearheading the NFL’s best rush defense, but they can also provide pressure in the passing game.
The Vikings’ interior trio of right guard Joe Berger, rookie center Pat Elflein, and left guard Mike Remmers (who made his first ever start at left guard last week after starting at right tackle for much of his career) are definitely going to have their hands full. If they can’t keep Case Keenum clean and clear of interior pressure, he could end up throwing up some “YOLO balls” like the one we saw last week that wound up getting intercepted by Marcus Williams. They’re also going to make it very difficult for the Vikings to establish any sort of a run game, which will put even more pressure on the quarterback position."
2) Really, is Nick Foles that bad?
"A lot of the focus in this one has been on the quarterback position, and rightfully so. On one side, there’s Case Keenum, who just about everybody has been waiting all season to see. . .well, remember that he’s Case Keenum. On the other side, there’s Nick Foles, who is replacing a guy that was the frontrunner for the NFL MVP award before tearing his ACL in Carson Wentz.
While Foles has not looked great since taking over as the starter, it’s not as if he’s completely incompetent when it comes to running an NFL offense. He put a season on film a couple of years ago where he threw 27 touchdown passes and two interceptions, for crying out loud. That’s a ridiculous ratio for anybody. Now, like Keenum, Foles is getting ready to line up for the biggest game of his football life. If he can rise to the occasion in this one and look more like the 27/2 quarterback he was in 2013 and less like the quarterback he’s been the past couple of weeks, it’s going to present problems for the Vikings.
The Vikings’ game plan on defense should be to worry about containing the Eagles’ running game and forcing Foles to beat them. He’s shown the ability to do that before."
3) The letdown is inevitable, isn’t it?
"Most of us have watched the replay of the final play against New Orleans more times than Jim Garrison watched the Zapruder film. It’s on the short list of the greatest moments in Vikings’ history, and one of the craziest plays to end an NFL game of all time. The Vikings had a 0.1% chance of winning last week before that final play, and the team and their fans have been floating ever since then. However, something like this can go one of two ways for this team. It can either springboard them to a run to being the first team in NFL history to play a Super Bowl on their home field. . .or it can be the exhilarating high that they inevitably come crashing down from.
This team needs to be 100% focused on the task at hand this Sunday, because the Eagles are the #1 seed in the NFC for a reason. Lincoln Financial Field is going to be every bit as crazy as U.S. Bank Stadium was last week, and if the Vikings are hoping to simply ride the wave that they caught last Sunday afternoon to a victory in this one, they could be in for a very rude awakening."
And, there you have it from a Vikings sports writer. If you disagree, then take it up with him.
Eagles win!!!!!
Two reasons why the Vikings win:
1) Number one defense in the NFL in terms of yards against AND points against.
2) In the 4 games since Carson Wentz's injury (including playoffs), the Eagles have averaged 277.5 total YPG. If applied over the full season, it would give Philly the NFL's worst total offense. (Via James Palmer of NFL Network).
That's it. No other facts are needed. The Vikes may not put up many points on the Eagles, but the Eagles sure aren't doing anything against the Vikes.

Hold on there, you are ignoring an important fact. Take out the final regular season game. Except for the first two offensive series, the Eagles played their bench warmers for the entire game. Again, the Vikings defense averages 19 points allowed in away games. If you're going to ridicule the defense stats I made earlier, then you don't get a pass from your team's defense stats either and then conclude that's all you need for the Vikings to win.
Try again.
If Foles still has it why did the Eagles get rid of him in 2013? In addition why did Foles have trouble beating out Case Keenum when both were with the Rams?
I guess you might not be a Vikings fan so I do not blame you for forgetting that the Vikings defense was perhaps even better last year than it is this year. See... they have had to carry the formerly weak offense since 2009. Favre had a horrible year in 2010 and so did the Vikings offense. The coach prior to Zimmer (Leslie Frazier) was also a defensive guy.
The depth the Vikings have on defense is by far the best in the league. In fact I have been very angry with Zimmer and Spielman because they keep drafting and getting free agents for the defense while ignoring the offense.
There is always luck involved when it comes to any game in any sport. However clearly the percentages go with the Vikings because of their overall team approach. The Eagles are a team that concentrates on offense. You have to believe that the Vikings will win unless the Eagles pull a rabbit out of their hat.
(We have been just plain lucky to get the outstanding receivers to help our offense in the undrafted Theilan and 5th round choice Diggs. That along with the always tough defense and adequate special teams should lead to a win. Maybe even an easy win.)
The Eagles do a have a couple good players on offense and perhaps three or four on defense.
Talent tends to win ballgames even if the game is on the road. Mo is on the Vikings side. They will win.
