Because it will be a woman. Female pool? Any female who has volunteer experience (high school, middle school). Or a fresh grad. That’s life.

Exactly! Look at the big push for female coaches. I have a strong suspicion that Kennesaw will be no different.
Who did Brown hire for the distance assistant?

Who are the finalist?
A female athlete you recruited on your 10th year of coaching. One day she’ll be your boss.

How many female distance coaches have won a xc national title for men?
How many have been given a legit chance? Don’t wetmore and mrs wetmore share coaching duties? So heather has won a couple.

I was going to say the same thing... how many have REALLY been given a chance?
Most of these spots where you guys are talking about “having” to give a female the position are pretty much garbage positions anyway. The reason the administration at a school would hire “just any” female for a position would mean they don’t give a crap about the program anyway. Those programs who have hired females because their resume makes them the most qualified seemed to have done very well.
I remember everyone dishing out a mess of hate toward Patti Sue at Texas and they’ve been doing well and she had a decent little workout going on Flotrack’s Workout Wednesday.
Also, I’ve seen many unqualified males get positions too. Take people who were good runners (not famous... just good in that state) and zero coaching experience who get head coaching positions in D2 or D3 programs. Or those who coach summer track for 10 years, and have no idea how to recruit or do anything administratively at a university.
It happens for both genders.
I used to coach against Coach McDaniel years ago. Seems like a good guy, but l have heard the same things y'all have heard. Back stabbed his way to the top. He's a snake, l hope my alma mater figures that out. KSUPride!
This was a rumor that has gone around with the team at WCU. Did Coach McDaniel really back stab to be come a Head Coach? I've personally asked the former Coach and he says he doesn't know of it happening, but Coach Dubbs was and is also a very nice person who really doesn't say anything bad about anyone regardless of the situation. If I had to make an assessment, I would say that in some form or fashion, McDaniel probably back stabbed his way into becoming the head coach at WCU. I agree 100% with Owl4lifeKSU. Another snake on the loose!!!!

Who the hell is "Coach Dubbs"?
VanHoy to Kennesaw St, heard it here first.
Who is this VanHoy coach? What credentials does he/she have? Do you think they will be hiring any new assistants once VanHoy gets officially hired.

Seeing as all current assist coaches have jumped shipped, it is presumed the new head coach would need a coaching staff.
Website will be updated by Friday a decision will be made. New director of track and Field with a completely new staff.

I’m predicting a woman with a sprint background. Place your bets here !
has texas state made its hire or done interviews?
I thought about applying but I figured the job would go to a candidate that: Is currently on staff or has a sprint background? Most likely Universities do not care enough about cross country-track but do they ever go after a coach who does not apply but is doing a great job at another university? Seems like AD's do this all the time for football and basketball but maybe they do not care enough about cross country-track to do this?

Yep! Majority of DI schools go after coaches that don’t apply. Which is why it’s really pointless to fill out an application. Schools already know who they want 9 times out of 10. I’m sure KSU has who they want. Just has to go through the HR formalities.
Where is Mark VanAlstine, Patrick Mcgregor?
