Any info on Montana State Director position? Screening was supposed to start July 11th. Surprised that the job hasn't even gotten a sniff on these threads. Seems like it would be a great job. Will they just go with promoting an assistant?

Tommy will do a great job. He is already well connected with Louisiana high schools and is very knowledgeable. He's done good work with the USTFCCCA Coaches Academy.

Is he replacing the throws coach (shannonn poop)? Where is she headed?
Just SHUT THE FU** UP. You don't know sh*t and your schtick is old. Probably an NC State jerkwad trolling.

I understand your consternation about the whole situation. I share your concern about the delays and the fact that the best 2019 kids are starting to schedule their campus visits and UNC doesn’t have a coach. I’ll do some digging and get back to everyone as soon as I can. Promise.
UVA mens caoch resigned and they hired his replacement in like a week. If UNC has made their choice why hasn't it been made official? As a follower of the program I know they need this hire to jump start any signs of life. They have a rock star coach waiting to be announced and we have heard nothing.
HR tends to take a long time. The amount of places you worked, the longer it takes.
Illinois filled.
Pitt still open, men between 2.
Pitt women no clue
Who take over for Stewart at Illinois?
Who are the final two at Pitt?

I have not read through the whole thread, and this may have already been asked/answered, but it is a mystery why colleges are not knocking down the doors of some of the better high school distance coaches/programs in the country. Great Oak, Wayzata, Fayetteville Manlius, Loudoun Valley, Christian Brothers, etc. come to mind. These coaches are doing something right because some of them have shown sustainability and produce top-level teams every year. Granted, it is a leap to the college level, but managing a top level HS program can't be that much more difficult than a Div 3 program.
High school and college coaching is like comparing apples and oranges - not the same.
How about HS? wrote:

Are you kidding? How did the FM coaches do with their post collegiate group? The Stotan track Club? It was terrible.
These programs dominate the HS ranks because they out train everybody else, look at the GO training, they hammer those kids and they do very little after they leave, same with FM, especially the girls, nothing left. Same with CBA, just hammer the crap out of the kids. These top HS programs are good at attracting kids to the program, notice how many get prominent transfers. No magic.
Great Hire. Xavier sprints are going to be at the top of the Big East this year!

Lol, you just described the majority of college programs too.

It is not unheard of for a program to hire a HS coach, but I look at it this way:
Often, well established HS coaches/teachers out earn entry level and mid level DI assistant coaches (who mostly make the same amount as young teachers; some times less). Not many highly successful HS coaches would be willing to jump to an assistant job at the nearby state school that pays less than their current gig.
Most P5 programs pay assistants more (sometimes substantially more) than an typical HS teacher. A lot approach or exceed six figures. But the P5 is not entry level. They pay enough to attract top candidates. Why would a head coach risk hiring HS coach (even is he has a bunch of state titles) if he has candidates with current successful DI experience in the application pool?
Obviously this is a generalization, but for the most part holds true.
