As someone who falls more into the letsrun demographic of socially awkward basement dweller, I appeal to the other half/75% or whatever of the community that is sub 14/100k+/supermodel wife for advice on how to proceed with a girl.
I'm at a small college, we have a track/xc program but nothing very good it's mostly just for fun. Right away I became pretty interested in a girl on the team, but didn't want to create any awkward situations or mess with team dynamics so I held back asking her out. It was also kinda hard to get to know her since she is rarely at practice because of class. Anyway at the end of October I figured I just needed to go for it and ask her to dinner. I was surprised by her response that she was seeing somebody as there were no indications that this was the case and I'd even asked someone on the team if she was single. For the record in no way do I think this is a George Costanza/Kelly the Waitress situation, I'm sure she is actually seeing someone. Now rather than making things awkward the next weekend we travelled to a race, and spent a large chunk of time hanging out and getting to know each other, 4 day trip. If before I was interested but didn't really know if there was truly potential there, this made me completely nuts about the girl. We now talk frequently and put in plenty of am runs together, at no point has this other guy ever come up again in conversation. I have no idea how serious the relationship is or how long they've been seeing each other, I am very conscious of the fact that she said 'I'm seeing someone' not 'I have a bf'.
So what should I do, just stick with what I'm doing/playing the long game, try to fish for more information from her or her friends, break off contact and try to move on, invent a fake gf and hope she gets jealous?
I'm back at school as an older student 27, she's a Jr 22.
