I know, run more, lose weight, but I had been increasing mileage gradually over the past 4 months and my weight had not really reduced at all. Without changing diet or anything else, I'm astonished that the simple, slight increase in mileage to each run this week made this big a difference. I do strength and strides too, which I kept the same, but to my 5 "steady" runs, I've simply added 5 minutes duration. I went from 3 hrs total running to 3:25. Weight down from 160 to 157lb. ( I'm 5'10" and pretty low body fat and decent musculature, 51 y.o.). My plan is to keep mileage the same this week except for the long run where I'm going up from 55 min. to 1 hr.. I'll be curious to see if this was just an anomaly, if this is my new plateau, or if it continues downward. As I posted on a previous thread, my running weight in college was just under 130, my heaviest was almost 190 (sedentary years in my early 30s), and I got back down to around 148 about 10 years ago when doing around 60 mpw. Gained around 25 lb again after layoff due to injuries and minimal running for several years.
