Looks like the America's weight problem has filtered down to our competitive running. Saw video of finishers at Pre Nats and the average runner could stand to lose 3- 5lbs both men and women. Power to weight ration is critical to performance.

I am 10x more concerned with the eating disorder problem in NCAAs.

Hi Olyrun
It's common knowledge that weighing less will help you run faster. It's also obvious from your post that you have never had or been close to an athlete who has dealt with an eating disorder. As someone who's been through it and basically ruined his running career for a long time just to "look the part" of a runner, I'd ask you to be a little more sensitive about that
The average American needs to lose 30-50 pounds, not 3-5.
clearly a result of america's protein-obessed mentality that has take over the last ~10yrs....only go see bigger and blockier kids out their on the course/track as we continue to force-feed our kids ridiculous amounts of protein from a young age. stocky builds and thunder thighs for all.
It's Solinsky's fault.

0/10 Nobody could be this stupid. Not even on LRC.

Oh, cry me a river. More PC baloney. A coddled 20 year old getting a full ride to college can't be told she is heavy? Well, if the coaches won't do their job, I will. I'll start listing the chunky monkeys right here.

Good job promoting eating disorders, idiot.
Why don't you post on another topic on which you know nothing, yet are an expert? Wait a minute.... Is Donald Trump posting on LRC?!?!?!?!?!
I appreciate your comments and I do not in anyway advocate a eating plan that would lead to a eating disorder which is completely counter productive. I hope you are back to running. I'm just advocating for desciplined eating that could lead to healthy weight loss.

So what should we be feeding our kids? Carbs, even the non-endurance sport kids?
Yah. That's smart.

I hope you truly have no idea how life threatening eating disorders can be. If you did you might understand that maybe looking 3-5 lbs heavier is worth not living a miserable life, ruining the rest of your life, or maybe just dying.
