I am a distance runner at a D2 school. I came to a 4 year University, and I am shocked on how, literately, about all of my teammates do not stretch, do not get 8-9 hours of sleep, party every weekend, and goof off and not seem to take running seriously. After every single run; long runs, 2-a-days, recovery days, an workouts; every run, I am stretching. I do not drink alcohol. I go to bed at 9:00, wake up at 6. I believe the correct term would be either frustrated and/or discouraged. Ironically, I am currently about the slowest on the team currently. It is discouraging, I know I can be an All-American, but I'm running like an average high schooler right now. I am doing all of the little things right. Does anyone have any advice or know of any relate-able stories?
Also, I went to a community college for a year, I ran mid 27s for 8K in XC. Then they cut the track program, so I transferred to a D2 school, I did not have the right transfer credits, had to do a whole year of academics only. Now I am eligible. So from NJCAA Championships, I have not raced until this September (Nov. '15-Sep. '17 I did not compete). Does this have anything to do with it? You would think that from a 2 year span, one would improve at minimum at least a minute, but this past month I've been running mid28s. I have 1 minute slower slower, not faster...
Any advice?
