Even if you beat the cut-off, they could still deny you. Maybe they can't verify your time or decide the marathon was invalid. You aren't in until you get the confirmation.

Obviously.
Of course they can verify me. Major marathon.
Does anyone know where the BAA publishes last year's slowest accepted times by age group?

Based on previous years, I think 3:01-3:02 (BQ minus 3:30) will get in for open males. You should be in.
Ran 3:02:21 18-34 and I expect to be right on the cutoff.
Does it matter when you signed up. I missed the first day and didn't sign up till today.
No you will get in

Applicants 2:09 or faster than the BQ for their age group & gender were accepted for the 2017 race.
Give it a week to receive your confirmation email. I received my confirmation already for 2018.
You got it.

A week, but you got yours already? Applied with BQ minus 20 and no word yet. The gentleman wearing two bibs in the Mexico city marathon will get in before me.
Hells to the yes. Likely bib number of 2439

Ran 3:12:26 40-44 and also expect to be right on the edge. We'll see.
only 3:09 here, but I'm over 50, so should be ok. the real question with a time like mine is: am I going to make it into the first wave?? now that's a nail biter. I heard the first corral in the 2nd wave is actually not bad, but hey, it's 2nd wave, the message is clear

Consecutive years, still had to requalify. Just saying they are pretty fast at checking.
Chill out. If you're minus-20, then you have absolutely nothing to worry about. That's how it works.
And thanks. If I didn't see your post I would have totally missed registration.

Me too. I probably won't run it, but I'm going to go ahead and register. Who knows? I may change my mind.
Thanks for the reminder! I totally forgot that it is Boston application time and probably would have missed it!
As others have mentioned, with a BQ +10 you should be good.
It will depend on the quality of the applicant pool and the # of bibs the BAA is giving out to qualified runners compared to charity.
Last year they quietly upped the number of charity bibs (without increasing total bib #s sold) which is why the qualifying cutoff went up.
Kind of sucks but - the BAA needs to show continued growth in the "Fundraising" component because it adds to the marketing value.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
