if 8 dollars kept the clueless Chinese (I swear to god almost all the first/second lane walkers and kids biking have been Chinese) out the first and second (and sometimes concomitantly the third lane (they sometimes form a friggin barricade across the track walking at 60 minutes a mile pace), f#$k me sideways I would be jubilant.
no offense to Chinese people btw, I've found them to generally be very gracious, kind and hospitable people and have a few Chinese friends, but when it comes to track etiquette they're completely oblivious and indifferent.

If you lived in the USA you could go to school board meetings and demand that the track funded by your taxes be available to everyone for free. The meetings are long and boring, mostly endless testimony from parents about lunches and class sizes. But if you show up and say you will vote AGAINST their next bond measure if the track isn't free, they'll listen. Half their bond measures fail and losing funding is their ever-present nightmare, so the tactic works; the one caveat is if the track is free, it has to replaced sooner with your tax money, and that ain't cheap.
Too bad you don't live in America, land of the free. Where do they put tracks in England?
"[F]ree?" We're $20,000,000,000,000 in debt. That's about $60,000/person or roughly $120,000/Federal taxpayer. And Congress & President Trump will probably allow the debt ceiling to be lifted yet again.
A debt burden less than 1/3 of the national wealth, so what. Lots of people are more in debt than that. It is just a fiat currency anyhow.
So, Europe gets free health care, but has to pay to run on their tracks. America has to pay for health care, but gets to run on its tracks for free. There has to be a joke in there somewhere. Someone please find it.
