There seems to be a lot of confirmation bias around here rather than an openness to figure out what's going on.
People are claiming that Mimi is going slow because others are coming to watch. But perhaps it's because she actually ran too fast for the first few weeks at 60+ miles per day and is now paying the price for that. Loads of posters said she was running too fast, so why not consider that perhaps this is the slow down that was expected.
Lots of comments about slow Strava uploads. When did anyone explain to Mimi that data would need to be uploaded within minutes of a run being completed? Listening to the MarathonTalk interview she stated she'd never used Strava before and had joined for the purposes of verifying her run because people DID tell her she needed to provide Strava uploads. To a normal person it would seem acceptable to just make the sure data exists - just like if you were keeping a log book it gets submitted at the end of the attempt. If she were a 'clean' runner (especially a technically-challenged one) the idea of being able to doctor the files wouldn't even occur to her.
With people like Amy Hughes, you complain that she's got no background in running races. With Sandra, there are posters earlier on this thread questioning her 3hr29 marathon and that she's inexperienced in ultras who are now comfortable with her transcon effort. Yet Mimi has done verified ultras and has a longterm background in running that certainly suggests she may be capable of doing a decent transcon effort. People who've actually met and run with her have stated that she is a runner capable of the claims she's made so far.
Does any of that preclude her from cheating - of course not. But instead of just trying to rip apart her attempt, let's start looking at both sides of the argument and actually figure out what supports her claims, what doesn't and what is in left uncertain.
