The ranges certainly would be a good guideline.
Certainly no one says you can't walk around like you are 18 again, but I thought the question would highlight a bit of potential hypocrisy in the OPs response essentially stating "No thanks, I am just using the meds to get back to normal, not to amp things up" but really seeking to get back to something other than where he would be if his T levels decreased in age in a customary way.
I guess what I am getting at is that if the OP is trying to get back to being 30 as a 44 year old, that is basically cheating as a runner and he may as well go full tilt. Of course, the preferable approach in my view would be to leave well enough alone. He is already running well enough to earn his BQ, which seems to be a standard of good performance for him.
