not great
Sounds like it's a rust buster.
3:32 for 5th
3:38
If the race is fast as in sub 3:30, Matt will get smoked. He'll be ready for London and may break 3:30 this year, but Matt is going to begin declining in this event. His ego won't be able to handle being Olympic champion while at the same time everyone kicking the tar out of him. And he has the target on his back. He's not like other Olympic champs who if they weren't record holders they were at least close to being record holders, ready to challenge and win very fast races. Matt is not a threat in fast races.
i disagree. his race against mo in (333?) was solid. and over a month ago. its really not a stretch to think he could run 3:29 on a great day this season. that gives you a very good chance of winning basically every meet except monaco.
Each season, Centro's first race in Europe has tended to be ho-hum, and each season, people on these boards rag on him for it. I would expect the same from him this time around, especially since (I would imagine) he is playing catchup with his fitness as he tries to make up lost time from illness/injury. While a win would be nice, it's not something I would expect as a fan. Anything in the 3:34-3:36 range would make for a nice post-USAs rust-buster.

I could agree with this viewpoint
He just ran 3:43 to take second at U.S. and then several guys he beat in that race ran 3:37 in a faster race a week later which indicates he probably could have run 3:37ish in a faster, paced race. He wasn't sharp at U.S. due to illness and injury in his build-up and it will be less than two weeks after U.S. when he races Thursday. If he runs under 3:35 or under it will be an excellent result.
i don't think centro is of much interest in this race even if in rio shape ( which he isn't )
the big news according to website is that ramzi-2 is entered !!!
he ran 3'31 in brutally windy stockholm off poor pacing & making mistake of staying behind iguana for too long & got slaughtered by Timmy ( who is in WR shape )
in 0 wind & fast pacing to bell he couda gone ~ 3'27
he is hugely aggressive runner like ramzi-1 & this time he won't hang behind guy like iguana who wasn't in shape but probably beforehand made false promise to ramzi-2 that he coud pace him to 2'33+ to bell which ramzi-2 believed but was wrong to do so in retrospect as iguana in rubbish shape
if weather is temperate & 0 wind ( which doesn't happen often in lausanne which is generally windy ), i expect ramzi-2 to obliterate the field any which way, fast or slow to the bell
if it's fast to bell he shoud go hugely below 3'30
i reckon his current shape is
~ 1'42-low/mid / 3'27-mid
the kenyans had better get their act together & break the 1500wr this year for brief immortality, because next year when this guy is "fully geared up", i expect him to take a serious shot at
~ 1'41-flat
3'25-flat/low
Centro's performances are always sauce-dependent. In any event he will be slaughtered in this race.
And lol at that pic. What a chode.
Forget times, what does the title of Olympic Champion get him? How much extra does be command because of the gold?
this is the post that answers the original questions. nicely done.

As always it depends how the race unfolds I see him in 3:35 to 3:40 range and the middle third of finishers. One thing for sure no one will let him pull off a Rio style ever again.
dude seriously, what are you on??
A race less than two weeks after your prior race is not a rust buster.
Neither is any DL race.
USATF semis was his rust buster from his layoff of skipping Pre.
And I don't see how the target of Olympic champ changes how others race or he races.
Runners either go with the rabbit or not.
I also don't expect Centro to go great in this race based on his history but you never know.
He's more experienced and simply better now than his last European race.
If he had kept momentum and health after his earlier 3:33 we'd really be expecting something here.
The pace for the rabbits has been released.
Men's 1500m (target: 3:30)

Men's 5000m (target: 12:55)
1000m: 2:35, 2000m: 5:10, 3000m: 7:45.
Women's 800m
400m: 56.5.
Women's mile (target: 4:11)

very unambitious pacing unless anticipating windy &/or cold weather
1'52.5 is 3'31 pace & ramzi-2 has already run 3'31+ in brutal wind with poor pacing, so in good conditions, this really is nonsense pace
quite clearly another example of promoters not spending serious money to get good pacers
pace paid for this should be ~ 55.5 / 1'51.0 / 2'19.0 / 2'33.0
but this costs lot of money as Canova has stated
they may just get pacers to offer this even if not outlaying much
this race is interesting
off 2s +ve splits, that is 1'55.0 pace !!!
hassan off that nonsense 60+ opener in a 3'57 is quite clearly in 3'53/3'54 shape in a perfect race, however that is not going to get her anywhere close to 1'55.0
these 1500/3k gals usually don't have better than 54s speed
54.0 / 3'53 - 3'54 ->
1'56.53 - 1'56.81
hassan woud do very well to run 1'57-flat
for her to run ~ 1'55.0 requires far better 400 speed than likely 54.0 even though she brings 3'53/3'54 endurance to the table
no chance dibaba is in this form which converts to 3'52+
Don't forget to pick your fantasy league teams, morans! You've got a few hours, until 3:00 pm UTC, mid afternoon in sunny Greenwich, England.
