Hey! I'm a high school distance runner, and I was high JV for cross country and (low haha) varsity for track last school year. I really want to make varsity for cross country this summer, and am ready to train hard. I was wondering if losing weight would help? I'm a 16 year old female, who is 5 feet 2.5 inches, and weigh 100-106 lbs (its been all over that range the past two weeks feels like it's going up though). Today on my run I realized I was CHAFING for the first time ever, something I've NEVER had to deal with, and it's scaring me. Does this mean I'm overweight? So many sites say that chafing is a result of being overweight. Would losing a few pounds help at all with my running (obviously in a healthy way, not a starvation way or anything). Or should I aim to lose fat and gain muscle? Thanks so much for your help!
