That was EPIC. Ostrander pushed the pace and made it hurt. Purrier took the lead but then Ostrander CRUSHES Purriers soul.
Allie kicked to a PR and broken Purrier walks across the line and doesn't even finish in the top 3
That was great.

Ostrander is also running the 5000m???? Isn't that a bit stupid? Injuries here we come...
So how will Prurier go home, dummy?
(Its supposed to be in the thread title..elated? Eviscerated? )

Is Ostrander the new Jordan Hasay?

she got injured from overtraining w/ mileage.
i wouldn't call her injury-prone, her coach just screwed up a couple times before finally lowering her mileage
Or rather she screwed up a few times and now she finally listens to her coach....

We'll find out soon enough. If she completely shuts down tomorrow and doesn't run for 2 or 3 weeks, she may get out of this situation without an injury. If she continues and runs the trials, then she probably will get injured.
Let's see what her coach tells her to do.
She should be fine, she really didn't race all year. She's been running 50 miles a week and cross training an additional 20.
Again, she's not a fragile kid. In fact, she's strong and tough as hell. 70 miles per week was just too much as a freshman.
The trials won't happen for another 3 years.......
Bump?
Aren you stupid.... wrote:

The US is not sending a team to the World Champs this year? They will be missed.
She was clearly the class of the field. When I first heard she was trying the steeple, I wondered if she would have any troubles getting over the hurdles. She certainly proved me wrong! Where Purrier struggled with them, Ostrander got over them with ease.
Knowing she had the 5k shortly after, I was a little surprised she chose to close so hard after it was clear she had it in the bag. It shows how hard she pushes herself. She still ran a great 5k, although I wonder if she could have caught one or two more runners if she'd shut it down at the end of the steeple instead of picking it up.
It will be exciting to watch her career if she can stay healthy!
This is very impressive. Ostrander's best event might now be the steeplechase. I thought she would struggle with the barriers...I guess I was wrong.
does anyone have a link to the final
She was actually a good high school basketball player and everyone knew she was an amazing mountain runner.
Not sure why everyone is so surprised at how good she is over barriers and at the steeple in general. Compared to that mountain in alaska she races, it's nothing
Where was Peloquin this week?
We're both of Purrier's shoes untied?
Peloquin was injured earlier this year, I assume she is redshirting.
Ostrander is an excellent hurdler, but at only 5' tall she's too short to keep her momentum on the hurdles. For example, compared to the taller competitors in the early parts of the race, she lost considerable time coming off every hurdle. To bad there aren't any replays, as this could be easily seen, but watch her next race.
