I coach High School. Many of our athletes are holding on through the school year. Sleep decreases, stress levels rise. The slow steady wear down begins and by season end the school plague makes it way through the school.
So what if we train hard through the summer when stress is decreased and kids get more sleep. Then when the season hits focus on traditional summer fitness stuff: tempos, long runs, etc.
Can this work?
