Lets say you had the time and the desire to run like Forrest Gump. Would you? Or would you try to suppress that desire?

You do realize that (the fictional character) Forrest Gump was mentally handicapped, right?
Running too much leads to burnout and injury so yes there is such thing as running too much.
Everything in life must be in moderation.
The real issue is not enough sleep, food, and PEDs.

Well I guess I'm one of lucky ones I've been running 80 plus miles a week for about 8 years bow, hitting 140 at times... Finally this year following a schedule and a coach and hope to do big things. But I have never been injured, I PR every year, in the 5k half and marathon

Probably not. But, he isn't normal either.
No, there is not such a thing as running too much. There is such a thing as RUNNING TOO SLOW and the court finds you guilty, 100%. You offer no credible defense. The court advises, beginning at 0600 sharp tomorrow, the defendant shall be taken to a place of exercise and shall complete not less than 40 x 400m repeats. This procedure will be repeated every day until repentance, or deliverance, intervenes. COURT WILL ADJOURN!

You better go explain that to just about everyone who is great at anything. They've been doing it all wrong.
