Is she done running at Oregon or anywhere else?
We also are searching for her.
It's pretty crazy she didn't make an impact on collegiate level. She was consistently good thru high school, had a steady progression & seemed healthy mentally & physically. Her background seemed humble & she had a good head on her shoulders. maybe someone here has more insight into her situation. I'm assuming she experienced a lot of injuries in college
Just weird that she is still listed on the roster but never competes. Wondering if she still even has her scholarship? Was a fan while she was in high school but now has plainly vanished without any update.
I just googled her & she has a twitter account. She looks fit & tweets about running. Maybe she's not as single minded about competing like she used to be but she def associates w/ the u of o
Nothing to see here, she just grew up.

No, its not crazy that Sarah Baxter made zero impact on the collegiate level. Many of us were begging her not to go to Oregon because we knew she would get lost. She needed to be a big fish in a smaller pond. Sorry to see her career o south. But not one bit surprised.

Not sure I'd say she had a steady progression.
When did she start to fall off? I remember her winning NXN her senior year against some intense competition. I vaguely remember her getting injured in her senior year of track, so maybe that's where things started to go badly? U of O was probably her biting off more than she could chew, however she could've transferred after freshman year at U of O didn't work out yet she didn't. There must be something about the program that caused her to stay despite not being a scoring athlete.
Are all of the posters on this thread auditioning for the Drumph White House? Everyone has their own set of alternative facts
Hmm, I remember her getting 3rd at NXN her senior year behind Efraimson and Cranny. Great race all around though.I, too, am surprised that Sarah B. hasn't run well at Oregon. She always looked/seemed healthy in high school and so it didn't seem like she was on an unsustainable path. I had thought she would translate really well to NCAA cross country. Still time to turn it around, though, if she still wants to do so.

She's not the first and won't be the last to flame out. Running at that level requires desire. For many, other aspects of life gain in priority. Katie Flood is another who comes to mind who's just disappeared all of a sudden
Dominant through that NXN race, had some injuries the following spring after just one or two low key outdoor races, and never really came back to the same level. Generally running a few XC meets a year, but not at top 7 or 8 level on the team.
I know all that. The question is why? Lots of people have had to shut down for a season due to injuries. And, without speaking too much in code, Sarah was not a runner who you looked at and said "uh oh". She's still hanging around and ran a 16:45ish 5000 on the track last year, but she's clearly not been the same runner. As others have said, I guess it just happens sometimes due to any number of possible issues, whether it be physical issues, mental burnout, lack of motivation, etc etc

Yeah really surprising if you would have told me Oregon would have won NCAA Cross this year without Baxter even running I would be like no freaking way but they totally did. I have faith that she will be back next year and running well even making the Oregon ladies top 5 for NCAA's. Good luck to her and GO DUCKS
She was never the same after her injury in HS.

Except if you get hippy and/or fat. She hasn't, but I'm just saying..talent "goes away" all the time in 18-21 year old women because of body changes; in the most figurative sense of the word.
Yes, bodies do change and sometimes desire can also diminish as one ages.
Hopefully, she can regain her desire she showed running while Mt. Sac.
Looked like she was running on "Pure Hate" ... Maybe the Oregon rain, liberalism has not been good for her.
Only she and probably her family, coaches, and teammates know. And maybe even they don't what's going on.
Lynn Jennings was a high school phenom in the mid-late 1970s and quickly faded-disappeared for about 5 years before re-emerging. And then she became the dominant US women's distance runner for about a decade.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
