Seems like I've seen this exact thread before. Anyway, I think you should do more than most teenagers. For me:
65-70
33:25 10k
2:64 M
35-40 mpw
800: 1:57
Mile: 4:25
Maybe five. Probably not that many as a rule unless we had more than one meet in the week. And I was never timed. Our coach only timed the top 2 or 3 of our guys in a race. I managed to figure out that I never ran any distance including the 880 at better than 6:00 mile pace but I had to do a lot of extrapolating to do it.

I'm pretty sure that 90%+ of the high school kids I coach don't have a clue what they are running for mileage. They ALWAYS figure way higher than what it really is.

Agreed. I wish I'd done 70-75 in HS.
I ran 4:28 off 45 mpw.

I think I could have run 4:12 and 14:20 if I'd trained properly earlier in life.

This was me lol. No XC in the fall, busy quarterbacking the football team. Maybe went on an extended "run" (30min of continuous running) once or twice per week. I only ran distance my senior year when I realized I would never qualify for state in the LJ or 300IH.
