So I want to start one about coaches.
I have had 3 really good coaches, who I trust in their training 100 percent but was 1
Middle school xc I ran, had run some over the summer, so I thought I was hot stuff, winning middle school meets, anyways she has us running about 8 miles a week in 8th grade. Then I do track, run slower for 3200 than I did in xc for 2 miles with the coach coaching me in track
Then high school i have an awesome xc coach, but she won't let him do track because she already has it. Basically tells us we can only run 300 meter warm up before speed work which we do everyday. She said slow runs make slow runners.
Next year for track has us do a 1600 meter time trial the first day of track after we have a break from xc. Tells the other coach how sad and pathetic my teammate and I look doing it (the top 2 runners on the xc and track distance teams... she is now coaching an xc team and has 1 guy under 20 and one girl under 21 tell me about pathetic).
So we do speed work everyday. Obviously I dont improve at all. I ask her about long runs, she is against me doing any, but this chill sprint/mid distance coach who ran mid distance coach was like yeahh if you wana do some just throw in a 10 mile long runs on sundays.. after running 15 mpw over track half way through the season just throwing a 10 mile run in sundays.....
Tells kids on the track team how annoying and stupid the awesome xc coach is.
