I'm a marathon guy but thought I would run a 200 as fast as I can today. Came up with 36 seconds. Is that awful? What kind of mile should I be able to run with that time?

I know 11 year old girls which can do 12x200m at a quicker pace than that.

Right, but I'm old. Being an 11 year old girl is an advantage, not a detriment. I would expect them to be faster than me.
5:30, 5:40..
Which lane was it in?

I doubt there are many 11 year old girls who can do 12x200 in under 36. How much rest did the girl's you know take between the 200s?
Agree. There aren't. And the few that could, don't.
I'd guess a 36 for op would translate to 5:40 given the solid aerobic base.
You guys are pretty good. I ran a 5:37 time trial last week.

That would be a decent last 200m in a mile race.

What footwear were you wearing?
90 seconds.
You might find a 200 meter stretch in one of Kipchoge's marathons where he went a bit slower.
How old are you? 70?
Please be over 60
Even though you're a "marathon guy", you can still benefit from doing some top-end speed work, even Canova recommends :10 hill sprints!
You don't have to spend a lot of time on the track. But, after a couple runs a week, you should do some 100's or 150's or :10 hill sprints or Flying 30's.
It isn't a shame to be a pedestrian.
Just enjoy what you have.
Everything is relative. How fast are you running the marathon these days?
It's amazing that your an animate object that can move under your own direction. Be happy with all that you can do and enjoy your life
It's about my 5k pace so yeah pretty awful
